This is the second time I've seen this film. I didn't like it the first time. I just didn't enjoy it at all! Now that I am watching it a second time and with an eye towards rating it I can see that the film is good. The imagery that is reinforcing the idea that everything is being wiped away, the scene in the book store brilliantly so, the way the story is told as well. The audio didn't really stick with me however, I can't recall much of it to be honest!

I have been attending the local poetry night for a few weeks now. It reminds me of when I used to be brave enough to stand in front of a couple dozen strangers and open my adolescent self up to them. I am not so brave anymore. I have written a few things since I started attending but nothing that I want to share. I do want to share however. I just don't feel comfortable doing so anymore.

I must confess that Amadeus is one of my favorite films. I have seen it dozens of times and I never seem to tire of it. From the opening scene of Saliari trying to take his own life to us watching his personality sour and turn bitter through his jealousy and envy for Mozart's gifts, I find myself enraptured. This story isn't completely historical. As I understand it Saliari and Mozart did know each other but they did not have the acrimonious relationship that is portrayed in this film. It makes for a great story however!

My friends know of my great love of Dragon Quest. These are the first JRPGs I was introduced to when I was a wee lad. I remember to this day spending days at my friends watching him play Dragon Warrior on his brand new NES and being enthralled with it. I loved it so much that I begged my father that whole summer for a NES. And that Christmas I found what I had dreamed of under that glorious tree, sans Dragon Warrior. It was a blow to be sure but a slight one. I had Super Mario and Duck Hunt!

Here we are with number 89, the controversial, love it or hate it masterpiece from Stanley Kubrick, 2001.

I hadn't seen the film in so long that I really didn't recall enough to know what to expect. What I got was 3 separate films told with very few words and way too much classical music. I think I get what he was trying to do.I seriously do. We were to watch the great moments in human evolution, triggered by the monolith, where ever that came from.

Clocking in at #99 is the classic, to the point of becoming a cliche it's self, confidence film, The Sting.

I have been slowly making my way through Uchuu Kyoudai(Space Brothers) on crunchyroll. As a grown up who spent his whole childhood dreaming of going to space this series hits me hard. It is quite a good anime on it's own. The voice acting seems pretty good, the artwork is quite nice (besides the so-ugly-its-kinda-cute dog Apo), and the story line is nice and straight forward. There are no surprises really.

I am going to embark upon a journey to keep this blog up-to-date, at least with just my life happenings and my random thoughts. Just so I have them written down someplace.

Let's just look at the highlights shall we?

PAX Prime 2012!
This was a fun crazy time! We got in the Wednesday before PAX and spent that day and Thursday wandering around Seattle having lunch in the Sky Needle, which was delicious, and hunting for a pair of boots for Sioned.

PAX itself was great. I spent a bit of time in tabletop free play and getting games demoed to us.

So today I am listening to the Gamers With Jobs Podcast today and they mention a (ancient) MMO called Horizons where a bunch of guildies wouldn't kill anything but just collect items. And then the guy talking mentions it's like flower picking in a game.

Which I thought could be pretty neat idea for a game, flower collecting. More specifically, Orchids.

Orchid hunting is something that drives people wild even today.

A game about finding, and bringing back to civilization, a flower.
