I remember the land of my dreams
Rolling verdant hills of waist high grass
Supporting an azure sky
Cloudless and monochromatic
Undulating into the distance
I saw it first on television
my childhood eyes
never before in awe of a place
never had I seen a where
I wanted to spend forever
So magical were that there
even into adolescence I believed
out there where that place was
were real dirt and grass and skies
land upon I could embark
The magic were only that
magic
a soundstage of blue paint
green plastic grass
a winding asphalt road
This field isn't quite like that
The skies are speckled with white
And the meadow isn't as vibrant
As that Hollywood stage where
I first saw my dreams come to life
This heat I feel isn't what I imagined
My skin wasn't damp with the effort
When I walked through my child's wondering
But it is made sweet, this trek we're on
By You, who brought me here
You who showed me someplace
I didn't think existed
