video games sound tracks and avp

By zehaeva, 20 November, 2003

for those of you who play console and computer video games i think you will understand this, but i believe that some of the greatest music comes from such endevors. the song that i linked to inmy profile is from a game!!!! the castlevania games have some of the greatest game soundtracks that i know of. and so does zelda too!!! there are just so many games its kinda hard to qunatify it. but lots of games have great soundtrack. mind you i am not talking about games that use modern rock or rap and hip hop in thier sound tracks. i`m talking about original music writen for the game, not something that was released on air. some of these games have simply amazing sound track, i`m going to point another finger at Final Fantasy which uses music to great effect. and my personal favorite the dragon warrior series. maybe its just that after playing a game for hours and hours and hours on end these pieces of music stick to you and become addictive. i dont know but i listen to alot of them regularly, even songs from games i`ve never played.

which brings to mind movie soundtracks. why do ad people advertize a movie and use a song for it, such as using Bulr`s song 2 for the trailer for Starship Troopers, and not actually have it in the movie!!!, admitedly starship troopers has one of the best sound tracks i`ve heard in a long time, its writen by basil pledsorious who also wrote the sound tracks for the hunt for red october and conan the barbarian, but you`re expecting to hear this song and it never comes!!!, and spiderman, which was a good movie, if you throw out all the romance stuff because to me it seemed entirly too fake, but had that song by the nikelback guy in the soundtrack and its touted and since the song was so successful i am quite sure it added a bit to the box office take however you never hear the song in the movie untill the CREDITS, whats up with that ??? i know it doesnt make nor does it break the movie, but your expecting to hear this song put to great affect in the movie and it never comes, its kinda like a mini let down at the end. and why write a song for the credits?? that wouldnt make me feel good, i`d rather write a song thats going to be in the middle of a movie say at a key action sequence or a romantic interlude where the drama plus the song is gaurenteed to wring tears and shouts from even the most stone hearted movie goer.

and movies why cant they atleast check thier facts just a little bit??

hollywood in all its infinite wisdom has given the green like for one of my favorite storylines that being the world of aliens and preditor, which darkhorse comics have made and pushed for the past how many years?? its a briliant crossover, the worlds fit into eachother perfectly, and its hilarious to laugh at the humans as they run scared as hell while these creatures of titanic might battle it out over around and most of the time through these insiginigant humans the plots and story lines have all been thought out very well for both series and for the cross over

so why does the plot involve aztec temples in the antartic??

we have trouble enough putting people down there now in the summer, you want us to believe that 5,000 years ago (which is about the dawn of the ancient egyptian folks) aztecs (who werent on the scene till this past milieninia) build pyrimids in the antatic? well maybe the preditors built them, but that still doesnt explain why on the antartic?? i mean there is stone there, its buried under hundreds of feet of ice so why there?? specially when theres lots of other planets that you can put to good use.

though i think because it is placed in this century i am a little put out. i adore the sound effects of the alien movies, the sounds of a plasma rifle going off is the coolest thing in the world. and if it sthis centrury there are no colonial maries and no plasma rifles.

"We got guns, we got rocket launchers, we got knives sharp sticks!"

though it does feature a guy named weyland, as in the corporation that fucks ripply`s life to no end. which should be interesting.

story and play aside the director could have been chosen a bit better. the guy is the same guy who did resident evil, which i found to only be mildly entertaining. and how does he expect to top camreon who gave us Aliens, which is by far the best in the series. though of all the works this guy as done, his name is something anderson, i liked event horizon the best. and if he can make this something like that or atleast push it and push himself and give the damned movie a plot then i think we`ll be in for some suprises.

i`ve been wanting to see aliens and preditors on the screen together for a long time. even since i flipped through one fo the first cross overs in the comic store. this i hope will be good.
