We can not sleep together
Separate rooms you two!
Separate beds
Like a 1950s couple
With children
two twin beds
and a night stand between them

We're in black and white now
Here in pleasantville
surrounded with this idyllic
american dream
a white farm house
playing fetch in the yard
with the overly energetic dog

It’s right and proper!
in an age that’s long gone
whose social mores have
decayed away
dilapidated like Main St.
USA

upbraided by victorian ideas
I lay awake and
and
to be honest
I’d like to think I’d be more
modern
with my allowances
more
practical in my requirements
but
in their place
it’s hard to say
how much sleep I’d get
with my baby girl
sleeping next to someone
