poetry

i have had a change in thinking, this i do not think happens often. i get ideas in my head and cling to them fiercly. but if you are to present an arguement in a clear and precise manner, with logical steps and proof, or atleast good resoning i will change my thinking to yours, why? because its the intelligent thing to do.

poetry

its a very personal and private thing. something that comes from within. it is us trying to explain to the world how we feel inside and how we see things. poetry shold be write first and formost for ones self. that being said if you are going to read it to others, if you expect others to understand what you are feeling you have to write it so that they can understand what you are writing, poetry does not have to be an enless string of abstract metaphores with no purpose nor meaning outside of you.

change

this differs a little from what i first thought of poetry and changes a few things that i believe strongly in. first is the whole i`m going to write my poetry how i see fit and everyone can kiss my ass. well they can, but when you write poetry consider that someone else shall be reading this and need to be able to understand it. poetry sounding good and poetry being good are two different things. if it sounds good and i can relate to it, if i can feel what you are saying well then thats a great poem.

revision

this also brings to mind the thought of revising ones poems. i was once of the believe that if you revise it you are destroying the original, you are straying from teh feelings and emotions and ideas that were in your head when you wrote that poem, i now think that revising can be a good thing. i can help to make a poem clear consice and all the more powerful to those who hear it. it can also go the other way. but thats what happens. its life you know?

so i have revised a poem or two. they came out for the better. i kept the originals though.
